If you’re ready for some hardcore skiing/snowboarding and partying, look no further. From the creators of the Yacht Week, the Ski Week brings you an action packed week-long festival. Whether you’re a beginner or an off-piste skier, there will be something in store for you. The week features après ski parties, the uber cool pond skim competition, snow shoe hikes, parade of nations, candlelight skiing and much more. By the end of the week, you’ll be asking for more.
Verdict: Without any bullshit, simply the sexiest and coolest best ski/snowboarding party in the world

The Ski Week, which is created by the Yacht Week crew, is probably best described as a week long ski festival. With its growing popularity, the Ski Week now takes place four times a year, at Chamonix (France), Hakuba or Niseko (Japan), Obertauern (Austria) and Aspen (US). I was fortunate enough to join the Ski Week in Obertauern, which is the birthplace of the Ski Week.
The week was nothing short of epic. The Ski Week really knows how to party. Expect a full range of parties, which include après ski parties until late everyday at different locations, an Oktoberfest themed party and various house parties if you’re keen to go on. The highlight was probably the special après ski session in the middle of the slopes with a snow built DJ stand. The Ski Week crew started sabering champagne bottles with their skis and pouring champagne everywhere. You’ll see jealous skiers looking at the Ski Week crew in envy.
Aside from the parties, there’s also the pond skim contest (where you ski/snowboard over a man-made pond in a bikini or your favorite costume), the parade of nations (where you ski/snowboard down a slope with your national flag), the candlelight ski (where you ski/snowboard down a slope in pitch black conditions with a candle) and the snow show hike (where you hike in). All the events were pretty epic, except for the . These events, apart from the pond skim contest, take place at gentle green slopes so that everyone can join.
The skiing/snowboarding in Obertauern is incredible as well, although I must admit that drinking every night does take a toll on your ability to have a proper run. If you’re disciplined enough, Obertauern has a lot to offer. The mountains are large enough for you to ski/snowboard 360 degrees. If you are an expert skier, there’s a lot of backcountry skiing/snowboarding opportunities and even heli-sking if you’re ready to blow the budget. For beginner skiers/snowboarders, you can also enroll for lessons. While the first lesson is free, the quality of the lesson is expectedly so-so.
How about the people? Before you start worrying, the crowd is just as awesome. This isn’t going to be a sausage fest. The Ski Week has strict requirements to ensure a 50:50 male female ratio. Most attendees are young professionals around 25 to 35 (after all, you’ll need a bit of money to join this trip), and come from around the world. In our group, most attendees were from the US and Europe, although there were also quite a few from the Middle East and Asia.
The most difficult part of the trip is probably getting a group of friends together for the trip. Once that’s done, the Ski Week will take care of you for the rest of the trip –accommodation, transport from Salzburg, ski rental and itinerary. Food (apart from a couple of meals) and drinks (all cash bar) will be on you. Remember to bring lots of cash as there is limited access to ATMs in Obertauern.
If you’re still not sold yet, check out the Ski Week promotional video in their website.
